Welcome to our Duckling rooms, where we cater to the unique needs of our babies split into two rooms based on age and abilities. Each room accommodates six babies with two dedicated staff members daily, ensuring personalised care and attention. Our thoughtfully designed rooms provide ample opportunities for sensory exploration, fostering the development of strong and secure attachments. With access to sensory-rich resources and materials supporting physical development, our environment sparks a sense of wonder and curiosity, aligning seamlessly with our nursery curriculum and ethos. Here, babies are encouraged to explore, learn, and thrive in a nurturing and stimulating setting.
John Bowlby & Mary Ainsworth Theory
In our 0-2-year-old room, we prioritise the profound theories of John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth regarding attachment, recognising the pivotal role it plays in early childhood development. By adhering to these principles, we create a nurturing environment where children feel safe and secure as they navigate their new surroundings. Our strong key worker system ensures that each child forms a secure attachment with a dedicated caregiver, fostering a sense of trust and emotional stability. Through responsive care and consistent routines, we prioritise building strong relationships with each child, allowing them to explore and thrive with confidence knowing they have a secure base to return to. By integrating Bowlby and Ainsworth’s theories into our practices, we lay a solid foundation for healthy emotional development and lifelong resilience in our youngest learners.
